Ultrasound Diagnostics
Features of ultrasound examinations for women, men, and children
1. Abdominal organs
Allows evaluation of the digestive and urinary systems. Preparation includes fasting (no food or drink) for 3–4 hours before the procedure to reduce gas formation and improve visualization.
2. Thyroid gland
Women are more prone to thyroid disorders due to hormonal influences. Ultrasound helps determine the structure of the gland and detect nodules, inflammation, or other abnormalities. No special preparation is required.
3. Urinary system
This examination is indicated for suspected stones, cysts, tumors, or inflammation. In men, the prostate gland is also assessed, while in women, the influence on adjacent gynecological organs can be evaluated.
4. Lymph nodes
Ultrasound can be performed on various body areas to detect inflammation or tumor processes. For abdominal lymph nodes, it is recommended to avoid gas-forming foods for 2–3 days before the exam.
5. Soft tissues
Covers areas such as the neck, face, back, limbs, and others. Preparation depends on the examined area: fasting is needed for abdominal scans; for other zones, no preparation is required.
6. Mammary glands
Performed for both women (including preventive screening) and men if pathology is suspected. Annual screening is recommended, or more frequently if indicated. Children, especially adolescents, may also require examination.
7. Pelvic organs
Performed using two methods:
-
Transabdominally — through the anterior abdominal wall with a full bladder.
-
Transvaginally — through the vagina, most often at the beginning of the menstrual cycle.
This provides a more accurate assessment of the uterus, ovaries, endometrium, and other pelvic structures.
8. Liver elastography
This technique measures liver tissue density to detect fibrosis and monitor the effectiveness of antiviral therapy for hepatitis.
Equipment used:
All studies are performed using the Mindray resona I9, a high-end ultrasound system with advanced functionality that ensures exceptional precision and reliability in diagnostics.
